The Ring Cycle

Opera Australia brings a new production of the Ring Cycle to Brisbane in December 2023, exclusive to the Lyric Theatre.

Come on an exhilarating adventure with men and maidens, gods and giants, dragons and dwarves. As greed and violence threaten to destroy the heavens and earth, a glimmer of hope rises from an unexpected source.

This is Wagner’s Ring Cycle – the pinnacle of opera – a 15-hour epic, over four performances.

Brought to life by visionary Chinese director Chen Shi-Zheng, who explores Wagner’s legendary tale through a futuristic lens.

French conductor Philippe Auguin leads a cast of international stars and some of Australia’s most accomplished performers.
Enjoy a week in sunny Queensland and experience this striking new production featuring the memorable music of the Ring Cycle.

Bunker

https://metroarts.com.au/event/bunker/

About

BUNKER is a bold new intermedial dance work exploring the physical threat of virtual alarm from two of Australia’s most accomplished artists.

At 8:07am on 13th January 2018, Hawaii issued a false emergency SMS alert:
“BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER.”

Telephone systems crashed under the weight of a whole population trying to say goodbye.

Integrating dance, an original score and dynamic video projection, BUNKER is a theatrically compelling and visually rich exploration of digital fear – a primal scream into the sky that seeks to find a calm beauty in between our angst.

Exploring the physical threat of virtual alarm, the work is lead by internationally renowned dance choreographer, Lisa Wilson & techno-troublemaker, Nathan Sibthorpe. Integrating an original score by Guy Webster and dynamic video projection by Nathan Sibthorpe, BUNKER is a gripping and deeply affecting contemporary dance work that seeks to find beauty in between moments of chaos.
