Jayden Grogan is an Australian professional dancer-choreographer, performing artist, teacher, and creative practice researcher. Jayden has performed professionally throughout Australia and internationally in critically acclaimed productions by; Opera Australia, Queensland Ballet, Opera Queensland, State Opera of South Australia, Matt Ward Entertainment, JACs Entertainment’s Cirque Bon Bon, Cirque O L I O, and Cirque JINGLE, Lisa Wilson Projects, Lynch & Paterson, Ozfrank Dance, Camerata - Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, Phluxus2 Dance Collective, Collusion Music and Dance, Restless Dance Theatre, Ballet Theatre of Queensland, and Leipzig Ballet Director Mario Schroeder. He is currently a Principal Dancer in Opera Australia’s The Ring Cycle in all four operas and features as a soloist performer. In the recent production of Billy Elliot - The Musical at The Star Theatre Gold Coast, Jayden starred as the Older Billy soloist dance role, and showcased his triple threat talents as a performer in the ensemble.
Jayden received ovations from QPAC audiences with his world premiere one-man show, Jaz & the Big Red Dance Book (2021) co-created by Jacqui Carroll in the Cremorne Theatre. His highlights for creative direction include choreographing The Phantom of the Opera (2022) for Lynch & Paterson’s sold-out season, and directing, choreographing, and performing the role of Prometheus in the Australian Premiere of Beethoven’s The Creatures of Prometheus (2021) at the Twelfth Night Theatre. He co-created two works that were selected for presentation at the prestigious Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria with SynapSense premiering in prime position for the Opening Night Program in 2017 and Soundline in 2018. He performed on tour in China on multiple occasions. Jayden was nominated in the highly competitive category Favourite Supporting Male Performance by the 2019 Del Arté Charts for his role as Jasper in Queensland Ballet’s production The Little Green Road to Fairyland.
Jayden graduated from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) with two degrees including a Master of Philosophy (Creative Practice) in 2020 and received Distinction for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance Performance) in 2017. In addition to his Vice Chancellor’s Creative Industries Scholarship and receiving Dean’s List commendations every semester, Jayden obtained the annual King’s Scholar Medal 2017 from King’s College. He has also taught contemporary partnering as a Sessional Academic Lecturer at QUT. Jayden has experienced creative development processes across Australia with; Sydney Dance Company, Australasian Dance Collective (Expressions Dance Company), Leigh Warren Dancers, Dancenorth, Lisa Wilson Projects, and Prying Eye Productions along with multiple independent choreographers from around the world that have informed his signature ways of moving. He was chosen for Cirque Du Soleil’s official performer selection database. For Queensland Ballet’s 60th Anniversary Gala, Jayden was Assistant Rehearsal Director and Stager for Jacqui Carroll’s Carmina Burana Tavern Scene.
